Shaun Tuggle Named Rodeo Austin Hall of Fame Laureate
AUSTIN, TX (May 29, 2018) — Shaun Tuggle, president of PlainsCapital Bank’s Round Rock and Cedar Park locations, was recently inducted into the Rodeo Austin Hall of Fame. He joins a select group of 17 laureates since the Hall of Fame was established in 2011. Tuggle has been deeply involved with Rodeo Austin—one of Central Texas’ largest non-profit scholarship providers—for more than 30 years, serving two terms as president and helping to raise millions of dollars for Texas students while advancing the organization’s mission: ‘Promoting Youth Education – Preserving Western Heritage.’
“We’re proud to honor Shaun’s incredible leadership and dedicated work on behalf of Rodeo Austin,” said Rob Golding, Rodeo Austin chief executive officer. “He is an outstanding example of steadfast commitment to community and has been instrumental in Rodeo Austin’s ability to broaden the positive impact we’ve been able to make throughout the region as well as in furthering our efforts to deliver on our mission across the state.”
Founded in 1938, Rodeo Austin awards more than $2 million annually through scholarships, youth auction proceeds, and other forms of giving. According to Tuggle, the organization makes a difference in the lives of young people, from elementary school all the way through college, through its financial commitments and by helping them gain skills and knowledge necessary to create opportunities and realize bright futures.
“The youth programs we support—like those through 4-H, FFA, and Rodeo Austin’s Junior Livestock Show and Junior Leader Program—create tremendous learning experiences for kids,” said Tuggle, “not to mention teaching important life lessons of dedication, commitment, responsibility, sacrifice, and financial accountability; valuable, transferable skills that will benefit these young people throughout their lives.”
He is particularly proud of the role he has played in unifying Rodeo Austin’s volunteer and leadership base—the more than 1,000 people vital to the success of the organization’s fundraising efforts. In turn, Rodeo Austin has been able to push past the $2 million mark in recent years for its total annual giving. In 2018, total giving surpassed $2.2 million.
Tuggle joined the organization in 1987, chairing numerous committees over the years. In 2000, he was asked to join the board of directors. He was appointed president of Rodeo Austin in 2008 and again in 2014 and has served on the organization’s executive committee for the past 14 years.
A life-long resident of the Austin area, Tuggle joined PlainsCapital Bank in 2003 as president of PlainsCapital’s Round Rock location. He was named president of the PlainsCapital Cedar Park branch in 2015. A 30-year veteran of the banking industry, Tuggle is responsible for all aspects of commercial banking for Williamson County, including commercial lending, corporate and retail banking, and portfolio management. His business leadership has played a key role in the economic development of the surrounding community, helping drive PlainsCapital’s overall success in the Central Texas market and contributing to its growth as one of the largest banks headquartered in the state.
In addition to Rodeo Austin, Tuggle is active in leadership positions with numerous community and civic organizations, including serving on the executive committees of the Texas 4-H Youth Development Foundation and the Williamson County Metro YMCA, respectively. He also serves on the board of directors for the Round Rock Chamber of Commerce and is a past officer of the Young Men’s Business League of Austin.
“Shaun’s professional and personal accomplishments, his thoughtful leadership, integrity, and heart for service, serve as a role model and example of what success looks like when done right,” said Golding.
