Saluting Our Veterans: PlainsCapital Sponsors Honor Flight Telethon

LUBBOCK, TX (July 3, 2019) – Community involvement for PlainsCapital Bank goes well beyond our mission to be the financial services leader and bank of choice in the markets we serve. As title sponsor of the Texas South Plains Honor Flight Telethon on July 3 in Lubbock, the Bank demonstrated how honoring our military veterans is a special way for our employees to support our communities.

“Our employees have the utmost respect for military veterans who have selflessly served their country over the years,” said PlainsCapital Bank Lubbock President Barry Ballinger. “As our bank was founded in Lubbock, we take special pride in supporting our local veterans, which is why we have partnered with KCBD since 2016.”

The Bank provides support in a couple of different ways. As the title sponsor, PlainsCapital Bank helps the Honor Flight organization cover the cost of promotional TV spots that help make the community aware of the upcoming telethon. In addition, the Bank has donated $2,500 in each of the last four years.

This year’s Honor Flight Telethon raised more than $101,000 in donations. From Sept. 15-17, the Honor Flight will transport area veterans to Washington to visit monuments and museums built to honor their place in history. PlainsCapital Regional Chairman John Owens will be accompanying the veterans this year as a guardian, assisting them during their time in the nation’s capital.
