PlainsCapital Bank Supports Rainbow Room with Summer Supply Drive

07/16/2018

MCALLEN, TX (July 16, 2018) — Last month, PlainsCapital Bank partnered with the McAllen Rainbow Room for a summer supply drive benefiting area children victimized by abuse or neglect. PlainsCapital branches across the Rio Grande Valley joined together to raise funds and help the Rainbow Room replenish its supply of clothing, toys, hygiene products, and non-perishable food items specifically for the emergency needs of children and families served by Hidalgo County Child Protective Services.

Often, children removed from their homes because of abuse or neglect leave with nothing but the clothes on their backs. Caregivers may struggle to meet the unexpected needs of a child in crisis. Founded in 2011, the Rainbow Room fills a vital role in the community, providing immediate access to resources for children in need completely free of charge.

“Over the course of seven years, an estimated 9,000 children and their families have found refuge within the Rainbow Room’s brightly-colored, hope-filled walls,” said Norman. “The Valley is truly a great place to work and live, but we would be naïve to think that child neglect and abuse are not critical issues within our community. As the region continues to grow, our support of efforts like the Rainbow Room must grow as well, to ensure that children and families are not alone as they battle their way back to a healthy, happy future.”
