PlainsCapital Bank Houston Offices Re-Open in Wake of Hurricane Harvey

09/01/2017

DALLAS, TX (Sept. 1, 2017) — As of Thursday, Aug. 31, 2017, all PlainsCapital Bank locations are open for business, including those in Houston, and PlainsCapital’s banking systems remain fully operational to meet all of its customers’ banking needs in the wake of the catastrophic storm damage caused by Hurricane Harvey on the Texas Gulf Coast.

Following Hurricane Harvey making landfall last weekend, PlainsCapital had to close branches on Monday — one in Corpus Christi, one in Victoria, and two in Houston. By Tuesday, the Corpus Christi and Victoria locations were operational.

“Access to cash and banking services is vital to those areas that have been impacted,” said PlainsCapital Bank President and CEO Jerry Schaffner. “Our branches and ATMs provide an essential service to the communities they serve, and we worked diligently this week to restore our operations in the affected markets. Throughout our efforts, the safety of our employees, customers, and community residents remained paramount.”

PlainsCapital has directed particular attention and concern to the safety of its employees in the region, and the Bank continues to maintain contact with those in the affected areas, monitoring their welfare and providing support. PlainsCapital Bank employs more than 1,200 people in Texas, of which 80 are located in the Houston and Coastal Bend region.

PlainsCapital’s parent company, Hilltop Holdings Inc. (NYSE: HTH), a Dallas-based diversified financial services holding company, announced that it is donating $50,000 to the American Red Cross to assist victims of the hurricane. Additionally, Hilltop and its family of companies—PlainsCapital Bank, PrimeLending, HilltopSecurities and National Lloyds—also have initiated a hurricane relief campaign at all PlainsCapital Bank locations across the state. PlainsCapital branches are accepting monetary donations benefitting the hurricane disaster relief efforts by the American Red Cross, Salvation Army, and SPCA of Texas. Hilltop employees also are individually contributing monetary and in-kind donations and volunteering with organizations across Texas involved in the relief efforts.
